We are not sailing to Catalina this weekend but we will be sailing along Catalina Island. In the past we have taken the ferry boat over and back but stayed on Pelican with Gramma Grampa and we have also sailed from Oceanside to Two Harbors then moored on Pelican in Cherry Cove and took the ferry boat back.
This time we are taking the ferry boat over to Avalon and staying on Pelican in Avalon one night. We are then hoping to head along the coast to White’s Landing the next night and to Cherry Cove outside of Two Harbors another night. We will sail across the channel to points East and down the coast to Dana Point Harbor.
Since I will be away from work, school, my computer and household responsibilities I am just remembering how much fun we have had in the past with Merrik along. The first time he was about the same age Maliea is right now. The second time he was 2 and I was pregnant with Maliea and had horrible morning sickness the whole time we were there. It was still a wonderful way to spend a week! Life on a boat on the “hook” can’t be beat. It slows you down and makes you stay put. You have to talk to each other and get creative about things to do because you want to use as little power and water as you can so that you have more for the important things like cooking.
Here are a few images from years past with Merrik on Pelican.
