Merrik had his first Thanksgiving feast at preschool this past week. After being out all week with the flu, he bounced back in time for the festive day. He was so excited to go back to school to see his friends that he was bouncing off the walls all morning.
When he got there they had a busy morning of mashing potatoes, shaking butter and designing bead necklaces, drums and arrows out of pasta, coffee cans and straws. After all the work was done they headed outside to rally in the usually way on the bikes, scooters, monkey bars and treehouse. There was also a Harvest Market where the kids could ‘shop for’ fruit and vegetables and other harvest items.
It was such a great day for me to be there and see all the excitement and enthusiasm. Parents arrived just after noon to join in the feast of a fresh roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, hot rolls and pie. It was an amazing spread all prepared right in the kitchen at school by the teacher, Miss Fuller and the moms at work that day.
