Low tide play

Jim woke up really ill this morning so we decided not to go to the boat today. I spent the morning ordering and inventorying engine parts on my new What’s On My Boat? app. After the kids did some chores we headed to San Gorgonio Park to shoot hoops and ride bikes then we timed it just right for the low tide at the tidepools at Dana Point Harbor. We were able to climb to the top of the…

It’s not easy being green

It’s not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold-
or something much more colorful like that.
It’s not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things.
And people tend to pass you over ’cause you’re not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water-
or stars in the sky.
But green’s the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green…

childhood portraits

I haven’t taken straight forward, soul-baring portraits of my kids in soooo long, I can’t remember the last time I did it-maybe a year ago. It’s such a bone of contention between us. Merrik is very uncomfortable in front of the camera. He is self-conscious and feels like everyone is being critical of him. He doesn’t know if he should do a goofy smile or give me stink-eye. It breaks my heart because his smile is so beautiful. Maliea…

I left my heart in cherry cove

We’ve spent a lot of time as a family in Cherry Cove at the West End of Catalina-jumping off the boat, rowing the dinghy, snorkeling, kayaking, paddling, free-diving, hiking. Cherry is a little gem of a cove just out and around from Two Harbors. It’s our favorite spot along with Emerald Bay. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of sailing to Catalina, setting anchor and just living on island time. So, when my children were born…

Santa Rosa Commercial Photography

I recently traveled to Santa Rosa to do some doctor portraits for Santa Rosa St Joseph Memorial’s new ad campaign. I was so thrilled that we had a little time after the two day shoot to tool around the nearby town of Healdsburg. After the shoot we went back by our beautiful hotel-The Vintner’s Inn-to pick up a phone charger the Account Executive left behind. Thank goodness this happened because then we just kept heading north to explore and within 20 minutes we were in downtown…

Client faves 2015

2015 was an incredible year for me professionally. I had the opportunity to work on rewarding projects with many wonderful clients. Even though I spent most of my year focused on family goals and obstacles, I traveled more than ever, had infrequent jobs that encompassed multiple days yet I still surpassed my financial goals! It really helps to tell the universe what you want. I did all of this while visiting some cool new places. photographing a huge variety of awesomeness in our world and meeting some wonderful people who make our…

carnival without the kids

I recently created a catalog of brand imagery for the new Amusement Park Inc. in Santa Ana. The kids couldn’t understand why they didn’t get to go to the carnival too. Why would mom and dad go to a carnival without them? Well, I told them it was work and they thought we were crazy!

cub scout campout

Over the weekend we had a fantastic time camping at Palomar Mountain State Park with Merrik’s Cub Scout Pack 705. The location was amazing. It only took us a couple of hours to get to the site and we were completely immersed in the mountain ecosystem at 5500′ elevation. Our site was shaded by oak, incense cedar and Ponderosa pine. We arrived just as it was getting dark and we set up camp by lantern. When we awoke the next morning…
